3 month hiatus officially over. This semester is done and I am taking spring semester off, so maybe I will update more often. who knows? I don't.

I understand that this is 2 years late and old news and that's cool, but whatever, it's good.

P.S. Eliot - Introverted Romance In Our Troubled Minds

I love every lyric of every song on this entire record. I debated on whether to post the newest album Sadie or their other band Bad Banana (because that makes more sense), and chose this because I'm a sentimental, nostalgic sucker and this album has been a bigger part of my life for the past two years than the newer stuff. But, if you like this, go buy the new record and listen to Bad Banana because they are both equally as good.
These girls are seriously talented and listening to this record reminds me of all the things I wish I was doing. I waste way too much time and have nothing to show for it. Woe is me.

Timber Timbre - Cedar Shakes

If anyone still checks this blog, I apologize for my lack of posting. I always say I am going to post more and I really should. I have no good excuse for not doing it. I want to say I am so busy with school and work that I just don't have the time, but I'd be lying. The time I spend looking at Facebook and bow ties for cats I could easily be posting albums to share and I just am not.
In other news, hopefully everyone caught Des Ark and Pygmy Lush on tour, and if they haven't come to your city yet, GO! The show here was incredible. One of the best I have seen in a very long time.
So if anyone is still reading/following this, my sincere apologies. Give me another chance?

Maybe it's because I grew up with a bluegrass musician for a father and a folk music connoisseur for a mother, but something about banjos and folk music is incredibly comforting for me. And this album breaks my heart a little bit.
Timber Timbre is a folk trio from Canada that plays spooky, heartbreaking (see above) folk music and this is their first record from 2006. Think Black Heart Procession meets Dead Man's Bones. I think it's pretty great.
Makes me want to live in a cabin in the woods and have a barefooted baby.
kind of.

track3-i'm a long way
track4-it's only dark

The Prids - Love Zero

Ok, so since I am trying to be in a band with my boyfriend and I feel like I suck and have no musical talent and want to give up, I need to re-ignite my ambitions and remember all of the couple bands that make me want to keep trying. Some of which include X, Sonic Youth, Fleetwood Mac, Handsome Furs and The Prids.
This is The Prids first full length and my favorite. This record is so catchy and perfect for when I'm in the mood to get things done, or take care of business, which is really never. But I love this record and listen to it regularly nonetheless. The Prids are from Portland and have been a band since the mid-90's. This came out in 2003 and just sticks on me better than their other 2 lp's. The other stuff is good too, but it just doesn't have the same punch as this record. Its catchy, dark, 80's-esque post-punk. The guitarist/vocalist and bassist/vocalist were married and then divorced and still stuck it out in this band and continue to make music together and I think that's pretty great.
So, Kelsey, suck it up, quit crying, pick up that bass and fail and try again and fail and try again. Ugh..

Track1 - The Problem
Track2 - All Apart and No Fall
Track3 - Panic Like Moths
Track4 - You As the Colorant
Track5 - Llorar
Track6 - . . .

Amusement Parks On Fire - S/T

This is one of those records for me that I won't listen to for a months and months, and then randomly put on and I love it just as much as the first time i heard it. I get sucked in and lost in this album, which is why i think it's great for driving or road trips.
This is their first full length from 2005, and admittedly I have barely listened to their other albums, so I am certainly biased in saying that it is my favorite. I just really like it. This borders on the heavier side of shoegaze which is what I really love. It's more bold than some of the more jangley, poppy shoegaze, which gets old really fast for me (see: the first pains of being pure at heart record) but is still super catchy and ethereal.
Give it a shot. I bet you'll like it.
Oh, and Venus In Cancer is a perfect mix tape track. Go ahead and impress someone.

Broadcast - Tender Buttons

In memory of Trish Keenan passing away last week, here is my favorite Broadcast record. Broadcast is an english band that formed in the mid-90's and were still a band up until their singer Trish passed away on the 19th of this month from pnemonia. Such a loss. Her voice is so awesome and it's really tragic to lose amazing and inspirational women in music.
This record came out in 2005 and it sounds like dark 60's electronica.
Listen to it.
RIP
