Des Ark - Loose Lips Sink Ships

I daydream about being just a fraction as cool as aimee. even just 1/4 as cool. She writes incredibly amazing songs, sang backing vocals for the newest converge record, she's gorgeous, she toured with pygmy lush and ghastly city sleep AND she can eat an entire jar of vegan nutella. SOLD.

I will one day tour with Des Ark and Zola Jesus

Planning For Burial - Leaving

Another enemies list gem. Crushingly beautiful. Not even sure how to describe this record because it is so many things in one album. This is one to just trust me on. Really.

¡All-Time Quarterback! - S/T

Since I am currently sitting on the patio enjoying the perfectly cool Seattle breeze, I thought i'd post something local. ¡All-Time Quarterback! was a lo-fi side project of Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie. Ben started ATQ in 1997 and he released 2 EP's which were later combined into one full length that was released in 2002. This is that full length. He is the only member of the band and even if you are not a fan of Death Cab, I suggest you give this a shot. It is more reminiscent of really early, less produced Death Cab with a fuzzier, more raw sound. Although don't let that description be misleading, this is very mellow and indie-pop. The song "Why I Cry" is amongst my favorites on the album and is actually a cover of a Magnetic Fields song. To be totally honest, I have never been much of a fan of the Magnetic Fields and prefer the cover to the original (although the original is quite good). This album sounds like what I hoped bands like She and Him would sound like; I mean, she is his wife. But instead, She and Him sound like caca. What a shame...
At least Ben got it right.
